Circular Design Philosophy
Sustainability in the Nordic context requires a departure from the disposable. We implement a circular logic where every building component is evaluated for its eventual disassembly and reuse. This "cradle-to-cradle" approach ensures that the energy invested today remains a resource for tomorrow.
Our designs prioritize modularity and mechanical fastening over permanent adhesives, allowing structures to evolve or return to the earth without toxic footprints.
Ethical Sourcing Standards
Certified Nordic Timber
Sourced exclusively from FSC-certified forests in Jutland and Southern Sweden. We minimize transportation emissions by prioritizing local mills and seasonal harvesting cycles.
Recycled Aggregates
Utilizing low-carbon concrete mixes and recycled industrial glass for thermal flooring. These materials reduce the need for raw extraction while providing superior thermal mass.
Bio-Based Textiles
From Danish Kvadrat textiles to sheep's wool insulation. We avoid synthetic polymers in favor of breathable, naturally flame-retardant fibers that regulate indoor air quality.
BR18 and Beyond
While we strictly adhere to the Danish Building Regulations (BR18), our studio strives for performance levels that anticipate future mandates for carbon neutrality and energy independence.
Passive Heating Strategy
Optimized glass-to-wall ratios and solar orientation ensure that Thisted’s winter sun provides natural caloric gain, drastically reducing the demand for mechanical heating systems.
